Breastfeeding, also known as nursing, is the process of feeding breast milk to an infant. This can be performed directly from the breast or by pumping breast milk from the breast and feeding it to the infant from a bottle. Breast milk is filled with nutrients and antibodies that protect babies from illnesses.
As babies grow, the composition of breast milk changes to meet their needs. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that women without health problems exclusively breastfeed infants for their first 6 months of life.
