Arcus senilus is a common condition of the eye that is related to aging and doesn’t affect vision or require treatment. It looks like a gray or white ring or arc around the cornea of the eye, caused by fat deposits curving around the edge of the cornea.
The condition occurs more frequently in people of African or South Asian descent and people over the age of 80. Arcus senilus may be a sign of underlying disease when present in only one eye or when found in people under the age of 50.
